RELAXING WEEKEND GETAWAY AT THE BIGHORN MEADOWS RESORT
I love spending weekends in the mountains, it’s like a mini-vacation and a nice escape from the busy-ness of the city.
Typically, Marc and I find ourselves going to Canmore or Banff because it’s so close to home. This time we wanted a change of scenery and to stay a little longer so we opted for a relaxing weekend getaway in Radium Hot Springs.
We drove out on Friday night and made a late-night arrival to the Bighorn Meadows Resort. We arrived after check-in but they made it easy to get access to our condo so we could get settled in right away (small details like this make such a huge difference to me).
The condo we had was so spacious, it had a full kitchen, fireplace, a huge deck, and even a BBQ. You could also get groceries ordered to your room so that they would be there when you arrived!
We had everything we needed and more…including not one but TWO outdoor hot tubs that were open late! It would be a perfect place to stay long-term or to even get a larger room or townhouse with some friends!
We woke up on Saturday morning to a foggy but warm day. The Bighorn Meadows Resort property is so beautiful, our condo overlooked the Springs Golf Course (which we will definitely be coming back to play).
We considered going skiing because Panorama and Kicking Horse are close by but instead decided to relax and take it easy.
Our day started slow and then we ventured out to Invermere which is only a 10-minute drive and went straight to Kicking Horse Cafe. It’s a super cute and cozy cafe with lots of drinks and food, they had a lot of dairy-free milk options and some vegan food options too!
Invermere is home to the Whiteway on Lake Windermere which has the longest skating trail in the world! We planned to skate but it was too warm and the ice looked like it was melting so we walked around Kinsmen beach and then took our coffees back into the main part of town.
There are a lot of cute stores on the main street of Invermere, make sure to go visit Om Organics, they make the most incredible skincare and the store is beautiful!
Some other places to check out in Invermere:
Circle Health Food and Fullfill Zero Waste Market
Fuze Food
Arrowhead Brewery
Taynton Bay Spirits
It’s a bit harder to find vegan options in Radium but in the evening we ended up walking from the condo to the Horsethief Pub which had a few options!

I’m thinking that the town is called Radium Hot Springs for a reason. There are the main well-known pools when you come into town, the Fairmont hot springs nearby, and then if you’re up for more of an adventure there’s a hot waterfall behind the Fairmont and also the Lussier Hot Springs.
We wanted to hit up one of these before we headed back to Calgary and we opted to check out the Lussier Hot Springs. I had never been to a real hot spring before and it was a really cool experience and definitely an adventure. There were 4-5 pools, the top one was busy and very hot and the closer you got to the river the colder it got. Some people even jumped in the river! It was busier than I hoped it would be, I would recommend going very early in the morning.
These hot springs are on google maps so it’s easy to find. It’s about 45 minutes from Radium and 20 minutes of that is on a windy mountain road. The path was snowy when we went so make sure to wear winter boots! Also, bring extra towels!
After the hot springs, we started our drive back home. Along the highway, there are lots of stops to take photos of the beautiful Columbia Valley.
We loved the change of scenery and slow pace in Radium Hot Springs and we will definitely be back for another relaxing weekend getaway. I would also love to go back just to stay at the Bighorn Meadows Resort again. Check out their website to book a stay, you won’t regret it!
P.s. I used to always have Subway on road trips and I was excited because they now have the new Beyond Meat Sub and it was way better than I expected!
