4 TIPS FOR HEALTHY NATURAL NAILS

I have been getting a lot of questions about how I get my natural nails to be so long and healthy and I would love to share my nail care tips and tricks with you! My nails have gone through it all. I've had cheap fake gel nails and then after I stopped getting them my nails were in the worst condition ever, even though they tell you it doesn't damage your nails. I think it took at least a year for my nails to come back to normal. I've now figured out how to keep my nails healthy so keep reading to see the 4 things you need to do to get long, strong, and beautiful natural nails.

1. EAT YOUR VEGGIES

Since going vegan my nails are the healthiest they have ever been and it's because I am eating way more vegetables than I used to, especially leafy green vegetables. Going on a vegan diet has made me more aware of what I put in my body and I make sure I eat as many superfoods and minerals as I can. Try to eat darker greens and different coloured vegetables. You may have heard the term "eat the rainbow" but in this case, it does not mean a bag of Skittles, sorry not sorry. I love broccoli, spinach, and kale because they contain so many vitamins. Avocados, which are technically a fruit, and any other plant-based fats are also going to do wonders not just for your nails but your skin and hair too.

2. CHOOSE BETTER NAIL POLISH

Nail polish will destroy your nails because it is basically a bottle of chemicals. Some nail polishes have more harsh chemicals than others so look for ones that are 5 free or more. That means that they don't put 5 of the most toxic chemicals nail polish usually contains. You didn't just eat all those vegetables for nothing, so don't pick off your nail polish and use an acetone-free polish remover. I would also recommend giving your nails a break from nail polish every now and then, but not wearing it at all is definitely the best.

All of these polishes are at least 5 free and you can click the images to shop.

3. DON'T WASH THE DISHES

Try to keep your nails and hands dry as much as possible. You probably know that when we get our hands wet they will dry out even more. And if you really have to wash the dishes try to wear rubber gloves because you'll notice your nails getting very soft and weak after soaking in a sink full of water.

4. LOTION, LOTION, AND MORE LOTION

If you must wash the dishes or you work a job where you wash your hands a lot or maybe you just like to wash your hands, APPLY LOTION ASAP. When your hands and the skin around your nails are dry and dehydrated your nails will be too. Use a good quality cream with good ingredients that will feed and nourish your nails. Make sure your hands and cuticles are always moisturized.

These are my favourite hand creams right now and you can click the images to shop.

I hope you enjoyed these tips and I can't wait for you to have long and healthy nails!
