PACKWOOD GRAND STYLE GUIDE
Packwood Grand, the social event of the summer, is the most exciting day of fashion, food and drink in Calgary. Think Kentucky Derby. On July 29th almost 2000 of the best dressed will come together and have a chance to win the Style Stakes Best Dressed competition which means $1000 to Crossiron Mills. YES PLEASE!
Speaking of Crossiron Mills...what better place to get your outfit for the event?! Drea Marie and I headed to the mall last weekend to scope out the best outfits and stores to make sure you are wearing your Saturday Best and have a chance at winning best dressed!
We went straight to the new Saks Off 5th because they have a huge selection of brands from high to lower end. There were so many outfits that screamed "Packwood Grand" it was hard to narrow it down to a few things.
If you have been following my How to Create a Capsule Wardrobe series you'll know that I'm trying to buy ethical and sustainable clothing. One of the reasons I love Saks is that they carry high end brands that are ethically made in the US!
Okay, let's talk about the clothes. For a summer event, the first thing we think of is white. Actually, everything that Drea took to the change room was white! You can never go wrong with an all white dress or outfit because it is always chic. Try to stay away from black at an outdoor event because you don't want to overheat!
I also love florals for an outdoor summer event and these dresses have the perfect subtle floral details on them.
I've been seeing these straw wicker-style bags everywhere this summer. It's a great leather alternative and it looks so good with everything that I ended up buying it! Bonus: it has pom-poms.
Pink! It's currently one of the accent colours in my capsule wardrobe because you can always find the right shade of pink for your skin tone, and when you do you will be glowing. It's such a pretty and happy colour and gorgeous for summer.
This lightweight top and skirt combo is super comfortable and will keep you cool throughout the whole day. There's not a lot of skin shown with this outfit so you don't have to worry about burning.
This pleated skirt has been very trendy lately and it's an easy piece to wear any where, dress it up or dress it down. I don't love buying outfits just for one event that you can't wear again. I like my clothing to be versatile and this outfit is an example of something you can keep wearing.
As soon as I saw these pink loafers I had to try them on. I paired them with the last outfit to compliment the pink top. Plus, wearing loafers means you will be comfortable all day long.
I randomly picked up this dress and was surprised at how nice it was. The ruffles are so flirty and fun, it has a great waist, gorgeous back detail, and the colour is perfect! It's a great length and comfortable enough to wear all day.
Drea and I loved picking out these styles for you to get some ideas for Packwood Grand, or any other event you have coming up! Make sure to watch my blog and Instagram to see what I wear to the event!
Special thanks to Packwood Grand, Crossiron Mills, Saks Off 5th, Drea Marie, and Mirissa Kampf for being a part of this post.
